Brig Gen Cheeseman has been a member of the Texas State Guard since 1996, serving in various positions. His previous assignments include Air Liaison Officer, Air Operations Officer, Vice Commander and Commander of the 4th Air Wing, and Inspector General, Texas State Guard. General Cheeseman is a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Officer Training School and was commissioned in April 1972. General Cheeseman is also a graduate of the USAF Air War College, Air Command and Staff College and Squadron Officer School. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1996 where his primary duties were as a Special Investigations and Counterintelligence Officer (Special Agent) with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), USAF Inspector General.
